Quiénes Somos
La Sociedad de Honor de Español es un club creado para reunir a los estudiantes con una meta principal: sumergirnos en la cultura Latina.
En este club, recuadamos dinero para organizaciones relacionadas con los Latina(o)s, y para nuestros miembros que están a punto de comenzar una nueva etapa y nuevas vidas en la universidad. Para ayudarlos empezar eso, ofrecemos becas.
Spanish Honor Society is a club formed to unite all students with one main goal: Immersing ourselves in Latin culture.
In this club, we raise money for charities involving Latina(o)s, run fundraisers for our members who are about to start their new lives in college, and provide them with scholarships.

When it comes to students who are looking to get into the very best colleges and universities in the United States, being a member of an elite academic group no doubt helps increase engagement for college admissions officers. If you are fascinated by the Spanish language and have shown proficiency when it comes to learning the Spanish language, Spanish Honor Society is the perfect fit for you.
In SHS, we expect our speakers to be sophisticated and courteous to all that join. All of our members are excellent and hardworking students.
Language lives inside of culture. We celebrate the richness and joy of the Spanish-speaking world.
We give back to our community and serve Latin Americans who need extra assistance or tutoring anyone who would like to immerse themselves in the language.
Meaningful friendships are created through shared experiences that our club provides. There's always a friendly face at SHS to build a bond with.
Membership is earned and it's easy to be an active member. Here's what we look for in every member and individual we reach out to.
Members must pays fees to help our club fund all of our activities and events for the year.
Seniors who are active and productive members in SHS (meeting all club requirements) must pay an additional $11 so they can receive their red and yellow cord for graduation.
You must be currently enrolled in Spanish 2 or higher, and keep a good grade in the class (maintain a B average or higher).
You must go to 8/10 meetings, and participate in at least one service project plus one community service project per semester to stay enrolled in the club.
$30 Dues need to be turned in by September 10th!
Every semester is packed. We offer dancing, volunteer opportunities, and tutoring drives. Being in SHS means being an active member of society as well as assisting Latin communities and being inviting to those who are intrigued in the culture.
Live music, dance instructors, and vibrant & bustling energy in our school gym and cafeteria.
Every Tuesday
Members give back by leading free Spanish tutoring sessions open to the whole school. (Members can earn service hours!)
Every Month
Our club organizes numerous food drives, toy and clothing drives, art projects, and other ways to support communities both locally and around the world.
Our officers are elected each spring and serve a full academic year.

Joining SHS takes four simple steps.
Applications open each spring.
CHECK ELIGIBILITY
Confirm you meet the GPA, course level, and grade requirements (see Membership section above).
GET THE APPLICATION
You will either recieve an application form from one of your spanish classes, or you may pick it up from Profe Barquero's room before or after school.
SUBMIT IT BEFORE INDUCTION CERAMONY
Return your completed application with seven teacher signatures and parent signatures. Turn it in to Profesora Barquero's room. Late applications will not be accepted.
INDUCTION CEREMONY
Accepted members are officially inducted at our ceremony in April. Family is welcome to come and support.
